Hi all, I added another Septandy special about my 1000HX that I haven’t really done anything with, yet, I went a bit upgrade crazy on it. I bought the 512K w/DMA chip because the onboard limited 128K was driving me nuts. I then went a bit further insane, and bought a dual ISA slot adapter, and I try to get a PICOMEM and a VGA card working.

It’s Septandy month!
This is Episode 4, a quick look at a Tandy 1000 SX I bought from Ebay a while ago and I use this as retro battle station.
In this episode, I talk about some basic features/specs, and some of the updates I have done.
I’ve upgraded this to a V20 CPU, maxed out the onboard ram, added the PICOMEM, VGA, and basic I/O card.
Keep an eye out for episode 5, where I try to setup my PICOMEM in a Tandy 1000 HX!!!!

This is episode 3. Ironically about the TRS-80 Model III that I’ve had for a while and was a warehouse find.
It’s an early Model III, no floppy, has the 16K ram badge, but 48K installed.
It was dirty, and left a trail of debris every time I moved it. Probably wasn’t used in decades. A quick wash, long dry, and surprise surprise it worked. Except the keyboard. That’s wasn’t a surprise. Lol.
As I mention in the video, I only bought this for the CRT thinking the rest was dead, and I think I made a previous post here about that, whether it can be used in a Model 4 or not. Apparently it can.
Down the road project, do I keep this as a M3 as I already have a M4, or do I use it to fix another M4.
I also have a Commodore Pet project, and one of my ideas was to move the M3 CRT to the PET, and take the green CRT from it to the M4. I am planning on modding that PET (which is an 8032) to use Steve Grays Multi-Ed 40/80 adapter, which will let me switch between 8032 and 4032 modes. I figure the paper white screen would be an interesting touch. 
Again, down the road project.
This is Episode 2, a continuation of my Compaq Portable computer repair, and then I do some upgrades. I was hoping for an easy repair, but this one took me a bit longer. The upgrades were worth it. In this episode, I continue where I left off in part 1. I re-foam a keyboard, do a CRT adjustment, upgrade the unit a bit, add a Picomem, and then I get to play with it a bit.

This is Episode 1, I acquire a dead Compaq Portable computer.
This is also part 1 of the story.
I was hoping for an easy repair, but this one took me a bit longer.
As this is the first video I recorded, I started to think this computer was a bad choice to do a first video. But, I didn’t know that when I started.
In this episode, I do a basic review of the purchase, and try to diagnose why it is dead. It takes a while, but I get it going.
In part 2, I have to do a keyboard repair, CRT adjustment, and then I get to play with it a bit.
As for the Double Nibble Computers name, which just came to me one day, it just a fun play on techno words.
There are 8 bits in a byte. Half a byte, 4 bits, is a nibble. So, two nibbles are a byte.
Hi all! I just added my prelude, aka Episode 0.
It’s a brief history of how I got into computers, and the collecting and repair side too. I also look back at the first computer exposures I had, and then the computers I started off with.
As I am on a hobby budget, I usually wait for the “as is” computers that pop up on various places. Sometimes, it is an easy fix (or just a cleaning). Other times, it takes a while. And there are times where you just give up for a bit and try later.
